PROFESSIONAL & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Building HR Skills
for Stronger First Nations
Organizations
We offer a range of human resources (HR) training programs designed to help First Nations governments, businesses, and organizations build strong, skilled teams. Whether you’re just starting in HR, looking to grow your expertise, or need specialized training for your workplace, we provide programs that fit your needs.
OUR SERVICES:
HR Training & Certification
Okimaw’s HR Training & Certification is built on a three-level program designed for Indigenous organizations. Each level is delivered over three days and helps participants grow their HR knowledge step by step. Level one covers the basics like employment law and records. Level two focuses on things like policy, conflict, and performance. Level three prepares leaders to connect HR with community goals. The program is practical, grounded in Indigenous values, and helps build strong, effective HR systems.
Workshops & Seminars
Our HR workshops and seminars offer short, practical learning sessions on important topics like respectful workplaces, hiring, discipline, and conflict resolution. These are ideal for staff, managers, and council members who want quick, useful training. Sessions include real-life examples and are designed to reflect the realities of First Nations workplaces. Workshops can be half-day or full-day and are always engaging and easy to apply.
Customized HR Training
We offer customized HR training built around your Nation’s needs, values, and policies. Whether you need help with policy implementation, supervision skills, or setting up HR systems, we work with you to create a training plan that fits. Training can be delivered in person or online and is always focused on building practical skills and supporting good governance.
OUR GOAL IS TO EQUIP FIRST NATIONS LEADERS, HR PROFESSIONALS, AND EMPLOYEES WITH THE SKILLS TO BUILD A STRONG WORKFORCE WHILE RESPECTING INDIGENOUS TRADITIONS AND GOVERNANCE SYSTEMS.
